Boys Varsity Swimming · Swim & Dive Places 2nd at SEC Meet

The men’s swim and dive team placed 2nd at the SEC White Division Swimming and Diving Championships this past weekend.

All 17 members of the team made it back to the Saturday finals.  There were 30 races in which the Pirates placed in the Top 16.  It was an exciting day!

Highlights included:

Jacob Muscato receiving the SEC Sportsmanship Award and a 3rd place finish!


Al Thorington – 100 fly and Mitchell Dickey – 500 free earning All-SEC Honors!

Tyler Laesch and Connor Bloom also secured spots at diving regionals this Thursday at Jennison.  They will join teammate Jacob Muscato to compete for a qualifying State Meet spot.

Next up for the swimmers is the “Last Chance Meet” this weekend. They are competing for a chance to qualify for their State Meet on March 9-10 at Oakland University.  Swimmers that have already punched their ticket to the State Meet are Mitchell Dickey in the 100 Freestyle and the 200 & 400 Freestyle Relays of Dickey, Stephen Dunlap, Connor Gronda, and Al Thorington.
