Boys Varsity Baseball · Baseball Pitchers Shutout Ypsilanti

Pinckney Pirates defeated Ypsilanti 10-0 on Monday as the pitching duo of Drew and Nick Cortez  combined to throw a shutout.

Drew was the winning pitcher as he surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out ten, and walking one.  Nick threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Pirates had a good night offensively as they put on an onslaught late in the game.  Dakota Avedisian went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI.  The Pirates were also aggressive in the base path and stole a total of 10 bases.  Jack Wurzer led the way with 3 of his own.

Coach Rogo said, “The boys battled the frigid weather to get their first SEC victory.  Proud of their effort and we are looking forward to Wednesday.”

Next up for the Pirates is a double header at home vs. Ypsilanti on Wednesday starting at 4:00 pm.
