JV had a very good outing at the Skyline Invitational, finishing 9th out of 12 tough teams including Monroe, Brighton and Dexter in their opening pool.  The Pirates ended up Bronze Bracket Champions with strong showings from setters, Syd Sweeny and Katie Shoner.  Sweeney and Shoner assisted attackers, Emme Carruthers, Mia Litzenberg and Meredith Lepper in killing the competition.  Taylor Justice and Geena Partica made it all possible with a tough to beat defense too.

Varsity finished 3rd at their Airport High School tournament over the weekend and parlayed that into an amazing start to the conference season at the Jamboree.

Adrian High School hosted all 8 teams in the SEC White with close to 10 hours of volleyball action right on top of a first day of school!

Our Varsity Pirates went 3-0 beating out Adrian solidly before starting the toughest part of their day at with match ups including Dexter, Tecumseh and Chelsea.  Though they lost those three, they were tightly contested games that could have gone either way with a play or two.  Senior Captain, Kate Kerns, sent plenty of crushing attacks to all opponents followed by great performances from Kylie Ray, Abby Mondro and Nicole Darin.  Hunltey Doyle’s tough serving ran plenty of points off opponent’s scoreboards and Sophomore, Libero, Sophia Oakes continues to dazzle with her sometimes-unbelievable defensive skills.  Setter, Taylor Kennard, had a great day keeping defenders on their toes using all her hitters and scoring a few setter dump kills herself.  Final record for the day was 4-3 leaving them tied for 3rd with Tecumseh in the SEC White.

This 2018 season is starting off well and all the teams continue to get better and better.  You are going to want to stop in and see a few games this season.  The end of the year could go a lot of different directions with so many great teams at the top of the pile.
