The Pinckney Equestrian Team competed in their first 2 Meets of the Season on August 25th and 26th. With 7 riders, the team is considered a B Division, which consists of teams with 5-10 riders. Their competition includes Brighton, Corunna, Davison, Fowlerville, Goodrich, Northville, and Owosso.
On Saturday, Lexi Newman, Sophomore, started off her classes with a First Place finish in Saddleseat Showmanship, with Haley Payne, Junior, finishing just behind her in third place. Newman also took home a win in Saddleseat Pattern, following that up with a 3rd place Finish in Saddleseat Bareback. In the Jumping Events, Pinckney took the top two spots with Lydia Kapeller (Captain), Senior, winning the class, and Kalie Alexander, Senior finishing 2nd. Additionally, Freshman Riders Bekah Etherington & Meghan Forma proved their versatility by competing in several events that they have limited experience showing, and held their own against the tough competition. Overall, the team finished 4th for the day out of Eight teams.
Newman continued her momentum on Sunday with top 2 Finishes in Saddleseat Equitation, Saddleseat Pattern, and Saddleseat Bareback, and capped off her morning events with a 3rd place finish in Hunt Seat Bareback. Morning highlights also included Maddie Hoffmann (Captain), Senior, winning her Hunt Seat Equitation Class, with Kapeller close behind in 3rd Place. Once again, Kapeller placed first in Jumping, with Alexander dropping a place down to 3rd for meet 2. As a team, they placed 3rd in their 2nd Meet, and are currently sitting in 3rd place overall. The Pirates Compete in their third and final District Meet on Saturday, the 8th.
