Congratulations to Sebastian “Bubba” Smith as he is awarded the Hungry Howies Spring Scholarship.
Coming right off successful tennis and hockey seasons, Bubba, picked up his clubs and headed right to the golf course. He is a Three Sport Athlete for the Pirates and although tennis, hockey, and golf vary in sport, all three of his coaches agree that Bubba is a great addition to any team or classroom!
“Bubba was our leading goal scorer last season with 37 goals and he will be our captain this up coming season. Bubba is a great leader he leads by example on and off the ice and is well respected by all. He is a great kid.”
– Kenny Grundy – Varsity Hockey Coach
“It is great to have Bubba on our team because he loves the game of tennis, works hard to continuously improve all aspects of his game, leads by example and is laser focused when he plays his matches. I have never coached a tennis player who plays the pressure points better than Bubba. He is well deserving of this scholarship from Hungry Howies.”
– Francis Diaz – Varsity Boys Tennis Coach
“Bubba was a student that I had in class in sixth grade and as long as I have known him he’s always been an upbeat positive young man. I know he was successful with tennis and hockey and I’m looking forward to him bringing that same energy and positive attitude to the golf team this spring! He showed great potential at our first meet in Jackson on Monday, when he was our low scorer with a 43. He is the kind of team member that I truly enjoy because he is willing to help anyone with their golf game and he is a good leader. I feel he has earned this award and he has my congratulations.”
