Girls Varsity Swimming · Swim and Dive finishes in 5th Place


The Pirate Swim and Dive team finished fifth in the SEC White Conference Championships on Saturday in Dexter.  The team swam prelims on Friday to qualify for Saturday’s final events.  All team members dropped time in their events both as teams and individuals, with everyone returning on Saturday to compete and contribute toward the 5th place finish. 

Junior Annabelle Haberkorn was All-Conference in winning the 200 I.M. and placing 2nd in the 100 freestyle.  She also qualified for the state meet in both events.  Annabelle set a new varsity record in the 200 I.M., with a time of 2:11.97, breaking the record by more than 3 seconds. 

Senior AnnaLiese Singer placed in the top 6 for the 100 fly and made the All Conference team in the 500 Free with a time of 5:36.87. 

Junior Ava Kovacich received an All Conference Sportsmanship Award.

Junior Ashley Gajewski, a newcomer to diving, placed 8th in a tough field of 18 in the diving portion of the meet.
