The Varsity Pirates lost this last Tuesday in a heartbreaking back and forth 4 set match to Chelsea. This pirate team is so close to clicking on all cylinders and turning around the season. Senior All Region Player Sophia Oakes notched a top 5 in the state 5.25 digs per set with 21 for the match. Oakes also cranked 6 thundering aces that the bulldogs could not compete with. Senior setter Syd Sweeney put up 18 assists and a kill, Senior Setter Kalia Carlson also dropped in 3 kills and 9 assists for the night. Other notables included Senior hitter Nicole Darin pounding away on the right side with a .318 hitting average with 11 kills on 22 attempts. Junior middle Mia Litzenberg scored 6 kills on 20 attempts and the team also put up an impressive 10 blocks against the Bulldogs but unforced errors got the best of them on the evening. The Pirates take on Hartland this Saturday at 11 at home and hope to keep driving the needle closer toward more consisitant play.
