Pinckney took home a 9-4 victory Monday evening over the Jackson Vikings in the first game of their SEC doubleheader matchup.
The Pirates pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Alex Geyer’s sac fly scored one run for Pinckney and Charlie Chambers doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
The Pirates scored three runs in the sixth inning. Pinckney’s big bats were led by Jack Trachet and Bryce White, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
White was the winning pitcher for Pinckney. The righthander surrendered two runs on four hits over five and a third innings, striking out eight. Merek Dickey threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Dickey recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Pirates.
Sam Arvy took the loss for Jackson. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking one.
Nathaniel Hobbs started the game for Jackson. Hobbs went three and a third innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out three
Pinckney socked one home run on the day. Bryce White went yard over the left center wall in the fifth inning.
Pinckney had nine hits in the game. Darren Avedisian, Charlie Chambers, Jack Trachet, and Bryce White each managed multiple hits for the Pirates.
